Report on the media roundtable on the first European Migraine Day of Action
September 12th was the first ever European Migraine Day of Action and Hilkka Kettinen from Finland, Ann Turner from UK and Audrey Craven, Ireland spoke at a Media Roundtable Event. This EHA project was designed to highlight the key message that migraine is common, disabling and treatable. Hilkka Kettinen gave an overview of country activities across Europe on this Migraine Day of Action. Ann Turner spoke about the physical, psychological and emotional impact of migraine and how to manage it effectively.
Audrey Craven made the following Call to Action “To improve quality of our lives, we migraine patients across Europe, call for all healthcare professionals, policy makers, patient groups, industry, employers media and the general public to ensure that we are understood and provided with the necessary tools and support to live a normal life!”
This was followed by a very lively question-and-answer session portraying headache disorders as highly complex, and difficult to convey in simple sound bytes! It is possible to improve quality of life for headache patients with careful attention to the individual.
